SHORTCUTTER

Intro:

Shortcutter is a program designed to create Windows shortcuts to your MP3 collection in a place of your choice, for example, the start menu. It will automatically create the directory structures you specify, saving you the trouble of sorting through your MP3s, or creating shortcuts yourself.

Features:

· Can find and organise MP3s in any drive/directory.
· Able to separate MP3 shortcuts in up to 1296 different alphanumeric directories (more than enough).
· Keeps a record of your MP3s, as either a .txt file or a Winamp Playlist (.m3u)
· Option to create shortcuts to lyrics files as well.
· Will update only MP3s which need updating, based on the data you give it.
· Summarises results of the update in an easy to read format.
· Able to add and remove individual shortcuts.

Version 0.5 is out. A couple new bits (not really features) - colour and bold in the out put box, yes and no to all buttons (great for people missing alot of lyrics), and the ability to store the MP3 list as a .m3u file.
I'm intending to make it a bit more versatile and / or user-friendly, so any suggestions would be welcome. Send them to  [email protected] .

Yay! I've got an on-page counter now. I'm trying to find a way to monitor number of downloads - cause that's what I'm interested in.
The next version is coming along okay. I've got it keeping the list as .m3u files now, making the list more useful. I'm hoping to get the Yes/No to all in there for this release. I think I'm going to have to come up with a way to enlargen the Settings tab - I'll eventually need more room.
I won't be implementing the Auto directories for a while - it's last on the priority list, more of a gimmick. It'll take alot more code than any of my other plans =]

Well, I finally got off my ass and put together this POS page. It's really only here to provide a base for the program - I code Delphi, not HTML. If anyone feels generous and would like to do graphics, or a page, or whatever, send me an email. In the meantime, you're stuck with this, so there.

Fixed No to All bug. Now it only 'no's' things with no lyrics, instead of everything.

0.51 Build 23

Chased down a bug in which wierd things would happen when you added or removed the file that belonged at the start or end of a letter directory.

0.5 Build 22

Added option to save list as an .m3u file. Now the list is useful to you as well as other people.
Added 'Yes to All' and 'No to All' when it asks whether to create the lyrics shortcut or not.
Output box now has colours, so it's a little easier to see what's going on as all that text races past.
Organised output summary slightly better - numbers line up now (or should).

Minor cosmetic changes.
First public release.

Reworked settings saving. Shortcutter now prompts you whenever you change a value in the Setup tab. Save Settings button still exists, but settings are automatically saved when the go button is pressed.
Fixed potential incorrect error message when lyrics file is missing.
Individual File Select now defaults to the MP3 Root Directory if there is no file already in the text box.
Used to not recognise the lowercase character in the first part of a directory. It does now.
When you hit enter while in a text box, it now accepts what you had typed (instead of doing nothing).
Got me an icon. Don't know if I'll keep it. It's kinda hard to see.

Fixed space in wrong place in 4th directory select combo box.
Fixed creation of 'dirs.txt' in root directory (remnant of testing code)

All features except automatic directory creation (not implemented) work on my own computer.
